Each class will begin with a read-aloud. Together we will explore the themes, colors, shapes and designs used in the book. Then, each artist will be provided with materials to create a masterpiece inspired by the book. We will use paint, charcoal, collage, and more. At the end of each class, the artists will be invited to share their work with the class, and at the end of the semester, grown-ups will be invited to view their child’s complete gallery of masterpieces!
Each week, we will explore the work of a different artist. In this warm and nurturing environment, children will get to try their hands at creating their very own piece inspired by the artist of the week. We will use a variety of materials to collage like Picasso, paint water lilies like Monet, and explore pointillism like Seurat. At the end of each class, the artists will be invited to share their work with the class, and at the end of the semester, grown-ups will be invited to view their child's complete gallery of masterpieces!
Each week we will have a Model of the Day, and the students will be provided with the pieces needed. Utilizing basic STEM principles and following step-by-step instructions, we will work on the attentive skills and executive functioning needed to complete the model. Then, the student builders will have the opportunity to use the same exact pieces to design and build their own individual creation. At the end of each class, the architects will be invited to share their work and see how everyone used the same pieces to create different things.
